Eng. Tarek has more than 30 years of experience on the Technical as well as Leadership level in Water resources planning and management, planning Studies and modelling, hydrological forecasting, sustainable development, GIS and remote sensing, and knowledge management. He has remarkable experiences in establishing and managing several operational units such as the Nile Forecasting Center, GIS unit, and Water Resources Development Center. He is currently the head of Central administration for data, information and Decision Support Systems. This administration includes the Ministry’s main information center, the general directorate for statistics, and the central library.
Eng. Tarek has a B.Sc. in civil engineering from Zagazig University, Egypt in 1986, and a M.Sc. in water resources and remote sensing from ITC The Netherlands in 1996.
He has wide experience in project management at national level while working as the executive director of National Water Resources Plan Project, assistant manager of National Water Quality and Availability Management, and director of GIS and remote sensing unit. Obtained high level regional experiences while working as regional water resources management specialist for the Nile Basin Initiative based in Entebbe, Chief Engineer at the Permanent Joint Technical Committee for Nile water between Egypt and Sudan which based in Khartoum, several consultation assignments for African countries such as Uganda and Nigeria.
