Owing to the success of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd African Young Water Professionals Forum (Af-YWPF), the network of Young Water Professionals in the African Working Group (AFRWG) of the International Commission for Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) has grown to attract more than 4975 members from all African countries, thus becoming an important platform in the African continent for capacity building of Africa’s future leaders in the water and agriculture sectors.

Driven by the success of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Cairo Water Week, the Forum has become an annual event convened in tandem with this prestigious conference. Cairo Water Week 2021 (CWW 2021) is organized under the theme “Water, Population, and Global Change: Challenges and Opportunities”. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Cairo Water Week will be conducted in a semi-virtual format during the scheduled timeframe from 24-28 October 2021.

The Forum will be convened during Cairo Water Week from 25-27 October 2021. Valuing the importance of partnerships fostered by the International Commission for Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) African Working Group (AFRWG) through the Af-YWPF with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation of Egypt, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Arab Center for the Study of Arid and Drylands (ACSAD) of the League of Arab States, Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean (GWP-MED), and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), ICID and its partners are working collaboratively to organize the 4th Af-YWPF virtually (on-line) during the CWW 2021. The three-day forum will consist of 6 training sessions (9 hours), along with opening and closing sessions. The participating Young Water Professionals will also be able to take advantage of the online offerings provided during Cairo Water Week to engage with other experts and stakeholders in the water sector.
