Dr. Ahmed El-Gendy, is an associate professor at Construction Engineering and the Director of the Environmental Engineering Graduate Program at the American University in Cairo. Dr. El-Gendy received his BSc in Civil Engineering and MSc in Environmental Engineering from Ain Shams University, Egypt. He also received his PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Windsor, Canada. He is a Fulbright alumnus (University of Iowa). Dr. ElGendy has more than 27 years of academic and professional experiences. His areas of research include, water purification and wastewater treatment technologies, sludge management and treatment, phyto-technology, remediation of contaminated sites, air pollution from mobile sources and waste to energy engineering. Dr. El-Gendy has published over 78 journal and conference papers, technical reports and a patent. He is an associate editor of the journal of “Climate Change and Cities” and a reviewer for more than 14 top journals in the field of Environmental Engineering. He was also involved in the scientific committees and chaired some international conferences, symposiums and workshops in the fields of water engineering and solid waste management and air pollution. Dr. El-Gendy supervised/currently supervises more than 40 MSc theses and PhD dissertations.
