Dr. Elsadani is Country Director at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) of the United Nations. He is a Civil Engineer, graduated from Cairo University in 1986, and holds a Ph.D. in soil and water engineering in 2000. His expertise is in water resources management and agricultural development. He has work experience in several countries around the world, with particular focus on Africa.
Dr. Elsadani started his career with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI). He joined the World Bank in 2003 as senior water resources engineer, focusing on the irrigation and drainage portfolio of the World Bank in Egypt and Yemen (2003-2011). Later he worked in the African Development Bank / African Water Facility as a water resources management specialist, managing several projects in several countries across Africa. He joined IFAD in 2013 as Country Director, where he managed the portfolio of several countries in Africa, including Sudan, Kenya, Eritrea and Ghana.
