Dr. Nour El-Din received his Ph.D. in Engineering, from University of California-Davis, USA in 1986. with Major: Water Resources and 2 Minors: Groundwater Hydrology and Numerical Methods. He is a Water Resources scientist with extensive long experience in applying integrated water resources management and development in arid and semi-arid regions, water supply, rural sanitation, water resources planning, monitoring and evaluation of irrigation projects and drainage systems. His main experience is in Egypt, as well as several assignments in other countries as well through cooperation with consultants and international organizations such as FAO, UNESCO, and the World Bank. Dr Nour El-Din worked in several projects as a consultant for the ministry of water resources and irrigation and for the ministry of land reclamation and agriculture. Dr. Nour El-Din’s experience is mainly acquired through his career as a university professor. He used to teach undergraduate and graduate courses covering basic and advanced courses for engineering students. Besides, he was appointed as director of the Environment and Climate Research Institute of the National Water Research Center for two years, as well as supervising the Engineering department of the Environment and Research institute of Ain Shams University. Dr Nour El-Din is heavily involved in updating the Egyptian National Water Resources plan 2017-2037, and he had accomplished several important technical studies for the irrigation improvement projects, electrification of diesel pump stations, climate change adaptation strategy for the water sector in Egypt, impacts of sea water intrusion on the Nile Delta, and Egypt’s water security outlook.
