Dr. Peter Riad is an Associate Professor at the Irrigation and Hydraulics Department, Faculty of Engineering-Ain Shams University in Cairo-Egypt. He got his MSc. from IHE-Delft/Holland in 2008 and finished his Ph.D. at the University of Hannover, Germany in 2012. In 2018-2019 he was a member of an EU-funded project as a postdoctoral at Kassel University to study the rural-urban transformation impacts on water and food management in the MENA region. In the meantime, he was a member of EU funding agency “PRIMA” for evaluating water-related projects in Mediterranean countries.
Dr. Riad has more than 20 years of experience in the fields of water management, hydraulic structures, and groundwater hydrology. He took part in many national and international projects. He is a lecturer in many universities and institutes. He gave many training courses for African specialists and engineers from ministries and research institutes. He is a sector expert for water management in the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Cairo, Egypt.
Dr. Riad has published more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and national and international conferences. He is a reviewer for many international journals. He is a member in German-Egyptian Water Cluster, Nile Basin Capacity Building Network (NBCBN), and many other water organizations.
